Wenlock Poetry Festival 5th – 7th April 2013
Wenlock Poetry Festival returns for the fourth year and at Hadley Park House Hotel & Restaurant Telford, we love the idea of the ‘My Desert Island Poems’ but we can’t quite decide which ones to pick!
The festival opens on Friday 5th April with a Shropshire Poets event, presenting a selection of high quality poets from the region. There are 3 headline events including poet and visual artist Frieda Hughes, the wonderful poetry in performance production ‘Being Human’ and the superb Ian McMillian.
Other headline events over the weekend include the former war reporter and independent MP Martin Bell, Fiona Sampson, Luke Wright, a joint reading with Owen Sheers and Menna Elfyn, Matthew Sweeney and Benjamin Zephaniah. Founding patron Carol Ann Duffy will be reading on Saturday evening, in the company of Imtiaz Dharker and Sean Borodale (TS Eliot Prize Shortlist 2012).
There’ll also be a Children & Young People’s Poetry Competition and those in need of inspiration, can hone their poetry skills at one of the workshops.
